10 Easy Ways to Make the World a Greener Place :)
1.) When you’re buying something from the market/ drug store, DON’T TAKE A BAG.
seriously, its not necessary. and if you really need one, bring a reusable bag.
2.) Unplug your chargers, lamps, ect when you’re not using them. They take up energy just by being plugged into the wall. Also, USE POWER STRIPS =]
3.) When you’re washing clothes and dishes just wait until you have a full load. It isn’t necessary to wash the dishes if you only need to clean two plates. Also, cold water cleans dishes JUST as well as hot water.
4.) EAT. If you don’t eat meat, keep doing that! If you DO eat meat, try to eat at least one or two more meatless meals than you usually do. Meat actually releases a lot of chemicals into the atmosphere and contributes significantly to climate change. And when you are eating meat, try to get your meat from naturally raised farms.
5.) Use reusable water bottles. They are sold in most health stores (inclusing Whole Foods) and book stores (Borders)! They come in all sizes and do a wholeee lot o’ good.
6.) SAVE GAS by walking, biking, or using public transportation. Some cars can even be fueled by alternatives such as soy bean oil.
7.) Be a green shopper! Get your clothes from a thrift store every now and then. You’d be surprised how many awesome finds are in thrift stores! Also, look for clothes that are made entirely from cotton (they are completely green because they can biodegrade). Also, rent your books and movies from libraries and video stores. You dont NEED to buy them.
8.) Take shorter showers! For every minute you spend in the shower, you use a whole gallon of water. Cut it down by two or three minutes. If everyone did that, we could save a lot of water. Also, for the ladies, when you’re shaving your legs, turn the water off. AND DON’T TAKE BATHS! You use about half the water taking a shower that you would use taking a bath.
9.) Recycle. DUH. just do it. don’t be lazy. Also, recycle glass. Glass takes 100 years to decompose. That’s a LONG time. So recycle it.
10.) Plant trees. Oxygen is necessary, and with all the deforestation that is happening, we are running out of trees. So plant some.
